Home Inspections Mineola Texas
Mineola was founded in 1873, when the Texas & Pacific Railway building west from Longview met the Houston & Great Northern line coming north from Troup. The railroads turned the young town into a shipping hub for farm country across Wood County. Mineola grew quickly, recovered from an 1888 fire that destroyed 18 downtown buildings, and got another boost in 1929 when the Texas & Pacific moved its terminal here from Longview. Today I’m proud to offer home inspections in Mineola Texas and throughout Wood County.
Mineola is a railroad town with real character. The historic downtown, the Amtrak depot and the tree-lined streets around it are full of older homes, while the countryside around Wood County holds farmhouses, lake properties and acreage. I inspect all of them, and I’m only a short drive away in Lindale.
If you’re drawn to an older Mineola home, an inspection is the best way to enjoy its charm without inheriting expensive surprises.

What I look for during home inspections in Mineola Texas
- Historic and older homes. Pier-and-beam foundations, older wiring and original plumbing are common near downtown. I check each carefully and note what needs an upgrade.
- Crawlspace moisture. Sandy and clay soils plus humid summers can mean standing water, rot or mold under the house.
- Rural and acreage properties. Wells, septic systems, barns and shops are common around Mineola. I’ll flag what needs a specialist.
- Wood-destroying insects. Older wood framing is a magnet for termites and carpenter ants. My WDI inspection covers it.

Mineola Texas home inspections FAQs
Are older homes harder to inspect?
They take longer, mostly because of crawlspaces and decades of updates. I plan extra time so nothing gets rushed.
Do you inspect lake or acreage properties outside town?
Yes. I cover the house and attached structures, and I’ll note detached buildings and systems that need a closer look.
Will the report help me negotiate?
Yes. Every issue comes with photos and a clear description your agent can use in repair requests.
